Shodokan Aikido - Akayama Ryu Jujutsu - Self Protection

WELCOME

The Ontario Martial Arts Institute (Mushinkan Dojo) was founded in 2008 as a centre for researching and exploring the application of mind/body coordination as expressed through the martial arts.

Our school is the first of its kind in the city of Mississauga. We are official representatives of the Japanese tradition-based martial arts of Shodokan Aikido (also called Tomiki Aikido) and Akayama Ryu Jujutsu. Our approach to training allows the practitioner to develop effective self-protection skills while building a sound moral foundation for the application of those skills.

Through training we undertake an extensive study of the psychological and physical elements of violence to understand and ultimately prevent or control it. This approach includes the study of how mental and emotional states affect our physical being and that of others. This is then applied to technique, allowing us to discover the optimum ways to use the mind/body towards preventing or controlling conflict.

The revelations gained through practice provides a comprehensive system of dealing with the various threats and conflicts that exist in life, whether a physical assault, conflict at work, internal conflict or otherwise.
