Shodokan Aikido - Akayama Ryu Jujutsu - Personal Safety

WELCOME

Ontario Martial Arts (Mushinkan Dojo) was founded in 2008 as a centre for researching and exploring the application of mind/body integration as expressed through the martial arts.

Our school is the first of its kind in the city of Mississauga. We are official representatives of the Japanese tradition-based martial arts of Shodokan Aikido (also called Tomiki Aikido) and Akayama Ryu Jujutsu. Our approach to training allows the practitioner to develop effective self-protection skills while developing an integrated mind and body.

Through training we undertake an extensive study of the psychological and physical elements of violence. Our objective is to deeply understand and ultimately prevent or at the very least, control it. Our approach includes the study of how mental and emotional states affect our own being and that of others. This approach is then applied to movement principles and combative techniques and tactics, allowing us to discover optimal ways of using the mind/body towards preventing or controlling conflict.

The revelations gained through practice provide a comprehensive system of dealing with the various threats and conflicts that exist in life, whether a life and death situation, physical assault, conflict at work, internal conflict or otherwise.
